Holiday Millie B bibs

· Comments (11)

Welcome to the Fat Quarter Face-off Holiday 2014. Robert Kaufman fabrics and Fairfield have tasked the Master Makers, in which I am one of with the challenge of creating something with a bundle of fat quarters sent to us by Robert Kaufman. I received the Winter’s Grandeur by Studio RK and was delighted to make up a couple of Millie B bibs to show off the wonderful prints. Be sure to check out my fellow master makers creations and vote as there are some great prizes available. You will need to head over to the FairfieldWorld blog to vote.

Millie B BibsFinal

Nothing says the holidays like homemade whether from your sewing machine or your oven and let’s face it, giving from your heart is always a good thing. Using these beautiful Robert Kaufman Winter’s Grandeur by Studio RK prints made choosing the prints to incorporate somewhat difficult. This delightful creation is another version of the Millie B Bib patterns – Night at the Ballet.  Patterns are available through my Craftsy shop

Supplies:  Robert Kaufman Winter’s Grandeur by Studio RK, poly-fil®Natural Cotton Batting, Double fold bias tape or create your own, Sewing machine, iron and basic sewing and cutting tools.

How to:

For this holiday version I simply went, well; Simple!  I removed the pocket square, pocket flap, shirt front and bow tie from the boys version and let the fabric do the talking. The girls version features a two tiered skirt. When cutting the skirt cut the shorter tier 5″ long by 21″ wide and cut the under skirt 7″ long by 21″ wide. Measure, press then sew a double turned 1/4″ hem along the bottom and side edges of both skirt tiers. Lay the short skirt tier on top of the long skirt tier, with the top edges even and sew two rows of gathering stitches along the top edge, spacing them 1/4″ apart. Follow the pattern directions to attach the skirt and cover with the skirt band. You might like to dress up the skirt band or tiers using rick rack, braid or ribbon trim, the results can be whatever you desire. Have fun.

I would love to hear your thoughts. This post is a face-off so your vote counts. Below is the link to vote and you are able to vote twice per ip address. Thanks and stay turned for more Millie B makeovers.
